Overview

Advancing one’s education is critical in today’s world. However, obtaining a solid education seems increasingly difficult for students of all ages, with students are struggling as a result. Students resort to memorizing their way through tests, showcasing the inability to truly apply the information learned.
At #1 Advancing Education, students are assessed, allowing the creation of programs for each student to master their core foundation, whilst teaching the student how to learn, how to overcome barriers in learning, and how to apply and use what is learned.

The tutoring offered by #1 Advancing Education has proven to motivate and provide the tools necessary for students to learn any subject, as long as they apply the initial principles learned. Students acquire such skills as reading, comprehension, English writing, math, and how to study. We find it crucial for students to learn and distinguish effective study skills needed in order to thrive in school and in their lives. Tutoring is available as in-home tutoring or at one of our many learning centers located across the Los Angeles County.

If students can learn, students can excel. Having the tools and knowledge necessary in order to advance in education is what our programs strive for.

History

The Applied Scholastics Achievement Program (ASAP) began as an after-school tutoring program, but due to its success with underperforming students, usage in public and private schools began internationally. Based on the track record of successes with thousands of students worldwide, the materials and program steps are now available for any student of any age.

Applied Scholastics

Applied Scholastics International— a nonprofit educational organization based in Missouri— was founded by a group of American educators in 1972.

Administered by the Association for Better Living and Education, Applied Scholastic is dedicated to broaden the implementation of learning tools researched and developed by American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard.

The precise system used in the Applied Scholastic Programs— termed Study Technology by L. Ron Hubbard— was founded upon decades of personal experience and educational research. As he wrote to Applied Scholastics in its formative stages, “It is of vital importance, as you are aware, that the quality of education be revitalized and improved. As man is as able as he can learn and know, it is urgent that a workable learning technology is available to him.”

The application of Study Technology has realistically saved millions of lives. Its broad use will achieve a world free from illiteracy, where people can learn anything and be anything.

The Applied Scholastic vision is to create a world free from illiteracy, where educational standards are raised and effective teaching is the norm. We envision a world in which people, empowered in their learning by Study Technology, are able to achieve their goals and improve their lives, thereby creating a new civilization founded upon knowledge and understanding.

Testimonials

Bel-Ridge was recognized as a ‘Gold Star’ school for 2004-2005 and a recipient of the 2006 Monsanto School of Excellence Award. Part of the school’s success blooms from its dedication and implementation of the Applied Scholastics Achievement Program. Applying materials and the learning how to learn process of the ASAP program, was an invaluable component and one that
i believe set or school apart from others.

Students participating in this program demonstrate a genuine interest in learning; their behavior has improved overall, not just in a reduction of disciplinary actions, which has also occurred, but in attitude, self-confidence and improved attendance. Most importantly, their academic achievements have greatly increased and each and every one of them went into the state testing week confident and motivated.

What impressed me about Mr. Hubbard’s ‘Study Technology’, which is the foundation for Applied Scholastics Achievement Program, is that his educational tenets and procedures parallel what i have found from my own independent researches to be the natural laws of learning. Its procedures engage the whole child in the learning process itself by making students aware of the barriers or obstacles that they face when trying ot learn; further, they empower the student to think, which is the essential product of education.

What Students Are Saying

I didn’t want to do anything but drop out and sell dope for a living. Now school is easy because I have learned how to get my way through school. I can become an engineer and support my family and move out of my neighborhood.

I wasn’t doing well in my classes earlier this year. When people would say “high school”, i was thinking high school was going to be a big problem. Then I started taking the Applied Scholastics Achievement Program. I am not worried about thinking about high school any more because I know I can do it now. I am much happier in school.

I am doing excellent in reading and good in math because tutoring helped me… I would tell a friend that they should come because they make sure you get taught.

I like the tutoring because I learned to read better. I hope I can come back next school year.

The tutoring is good. I read, I write, I spell better.

I loved it because I learned a lot.

I have learned a lot and now I am getting higher grades because when I arrived to this school I didn’t understand anything and I decided that I was not going to continue coming but not that I know a little more English, I want to continue to come and learn more and thank you very much to help me to learn English.

In tutoring i learned how to read and sometimes write but what i Like most is reading because in school I get more good grade in school because the tutor helped me a lot.

It helped me because I was flunking but now I’m passing… I’m doing very good in math.

I am doing good in math at school and I got B’s on my math tests.
